Alanna King is currently a master’s student in the Rehabilitation and Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program at VCU. After graduating with a BS in psychology from JMU, her research interests have centered on accessibility and removing the barriers disabled populations face in accessing healthcare. Alanna has served the Charlottesville community for a number of years, both in educational settings and in hospital settings. She spent much of her time as a research assistant for UVAChildren’s Hospital and facilitated support groups for adolescent girls facing chronic illness through UVA Pediatric Endocrinology. She aims to use her research and experience to uplift groups that have been historically overlooked and build communities that are healthier for everyone.
