Our team
My name is Matthew E. Britt, but you can call me Matt. I am peer recovery specialist in the Department of Rehabilitation Counseling. My journey with recovery and mental wellness has driven my desire to help others navigate similar challenges. VCU has played a pivotal role in my life, providing me with life-saving surgery and inspiring my commitment to give back to the community.
As a certified peer recovery specialist (CPRS), I see myself helping anyone who needs help entering recovery, with nonjudgmental and unconditional support and understanding. My certifications also include forensic peer specialist trainer of trainers, mindfulness-based stress reduction, and acudetox specialist, reflecting my dedication to expanding my skill set.
My academic background includes a degree in psychology with a minor in human services at Old Dominion University. As well as an Associate’s degree in psychology from Germanna Community College. I believe that no one should have to suffer alone, and I am determined to make a difference in the lives of others. My goal is to ensure that everyone facing similar challenges receives the support and resources they need to thrive.
